Rebuilding Together had a profound impact on a family whose health and safety were at risk in their own home. The homeowner we were working with was a 74-year-old, strong and inspiring working woman, who was supporting her adult daughter with a disability and an eight-year-old granddaughter.

Her application stated, “Our water lines to the bathroom are not working. We bucket water from the kitchen to the bathroom. [We need] new windows and doors. Our home is very cold and not safe.”

In the spring of 2015 a talented team of professionals and volunteers of Rebuilding Together, gutted the old bathroom and provided a brand new one equipped with a new tub and railing for support, new tile and fresh paint. They also installed new gutters.

Later that fall, they went back to the house for a little more renovation work, installing ten new windows with insulation and new doors throughout. Additionally they repaired the family’s outdoor well, performed electrical upgrades and provided a new washer and dryer.

This gracious grandmother said, “God has blessed us immensely. I am in awe of what was done for us! These people are amazing.”
